No Sewing Going On Here!

I have been so busy these past few weeks! There just hasn't been time to sit at the sewing machine! We started our 3rd year of homeschooling on August 19th and I'm teaching 4th & 2nd grades this year, along with a bit of preschool for my 4 year old.  We had a garage sale with my parents & my sister on August 23rd & 24th. I forgot how much work prepping for a yard sale can be! It ended up being the hottest weekend of the summer, so we weren't as busy as we would've hoped. We did sell some stuff, though, so I still came home with a lot less stuff than I had taken!

It has all been a whirlwind and I can't believe that it's almost September! I'm sad to see summer go in some ways, but I am anxiously waiting for cooler temps and the leaves to start changing colors. It has been in the mid-90*s and even as hot as 100* for the past week or so. The public schools have let out at 1 pm each day this week because almost half of the schools do not have air conditioning. It has left us all ready for our normal temps to return. Hopefully that will be soon!

I picked up my fair entries on August 25th (also shown in my previous post) and I wanted to share the ribbons I won! It was a good experience again this year. I always look forward to reading the judges comments. They give me little things to work on as I prepare to start quilts for next year's fair.

This Halloween table topper won a 2nd place red ribbon in the table topper category.

This "Tradewinds & Stars" quilt (pattern by Moda Bake Shop) in "Joy" by Kate Spain won 2nd place in the
medium quilts category.

The retro cars cloth pocket diaper won 1st place in the diaper category and Best in Class for the Infants category! I'm really excited about that one!

My Sesame Street bib won a 1st place ribbon in the Bibs category.

  1. So many pretty things!! Your color burst quilt is breathtaking. Good luck with your homeschooling year. I've started homeschooling my 5 kiddos and we are in the middle of a move from Turkey to Vegas with a two month stop over in Arizona so I can relate to not having much sewing time. Until we get settled again I have to content myself with looking at lovely quilting blogs like yours!
